New Zealand is currently facing a CO2 shortage in the food and beverage industry with the closing of the Marsden Point oil refinery. A majority of the New Zealand products requiring CO2 for the production had previously been using the oil refinery but Marsden Point had to close in March due to the impact of Covid19 on the industry.
